iContract -- lost, now found.

06/29/2006

Back in our first book, The Pragmatic Programmer, we extolled the virtues of Design by Contract, Bertrand Meyer’s formalism for ensuring design goodness.

The idea is still a live and powerful one (and even gets a good mention in Ken Pugh’s latest book, Interface Oriented Design).

But one of the key software packages we mentioned back then was iContract for Java, by Reto Kramer.

Poor Reto then disappeared, at least he dropped off the face of the Googleverse. iContract lay abandoned, and we get still get mail every month or two from a curious reader trying to find it.

Well I’m pleased to announce that the project has been ressurected. Check out icontract2.org for details.

I’ve always been a fan of DbC, and so I quite pleased to see this project take on new life.
